2023 Home Décor Trends – Bring on the Excess!
For the past few years, the common theme in the home décor space was ‘Less is More’. This is not the case for 2023 home décor trends.. All of the home décor inspo social media pages were showcasing clean rooms with minimal décor. Everything felt fresh and renewing. There is nothing like having a clean slate, an open space – free of clutter.

As we all know, when the holidays roll around, people fill their homes with seasonal décor and it completely switches up the vibe in the house. Then when the season is over, it’s time to reel it back in again and go back to the bare minimum. A common regret around taking down the holiday decorations is how bare and empty the home looks all of a sudden. Fortunately for anyone who is looking to upgrade their home décor trend design in 2023, these new trends are leaning towards more comfort and coziness than we’ve seen lately. In 2023, you will be encouraged to tastefully add more décor to those rooms with sparse decorations.

Don’t Keep it Simple
For the past few years, home designers have created a blend of simplicity and minimalism in their home styles. This style involves removing anything from the space that is not necessary for function or lifestyle. The common phrase, “how does this item spark joy,” is a new mantra for homeowners hoping to eliminate clutter from their homes. As the new year approaches, this mindset has been thrown out the window. Believe it or not, maximalism is the new theme.

Bright and Bold
Bright color and bold patterns, cozy textures, and (dare we say it) excess, have replaced the sleek lines and neutral colors of minimalist design. Home décor trends in 2023 now invite the consumer to play with bold colors and contrasting patterns and shapes. Almost anything goes. It’s important to note that this is not an invitation for clutter.

The More is More 2023 décor trend doesn’t always mean more “stuff”. You can participate in this trend using wallpaper on an accent wall or a brightly colored hallway. Even having a favorite chair reupholstered in a bold fabric leans into the Maximalist trend. If paint and bright furniture is too much for you, try something less permanent like brightly colored curtains or a fun rug. Décor accent pieces are also a fun way to try this trend without being fully committed. Swap out the silver, gold and marble accents for pink, green and lavender décor pieces. Fun coffee table books and colorful floral sprays will also do the trick.

Happy Home for 2023
2023 is almost here and with it a fresh approach to décor. All of the home magazines and design books emphasizing the latest “boho” style, clearly shows a method to the design. The homes feel more “lived in”. The furnishings are functional and comfortable. Color palettes are curated for harmony and mood. While this is a great time to experiment, to avoid creating a hodge-podge of design, be intentional with your choices. Forget the minimalist style of the past and embrace maximalism; with all the print, color, and exciting vibes it brings to the home.
